Active COVID-19 Cases Increase

VA medical hospitals have seen an increase in active coronavirus cases in the last few days. Across the United States the number of active cases increased by 7%.

This increase is troublesome because the number of active cases was decreasing rapidly in VA centers but now the number has picked up again.

According to new data that was released yesterday, an increase of 100 cases has occurred from the already 1,494 cases VA hospitals have been dealing with. The VA organization has helped treat 14,400 people that were diagnosed with the virus in the past few months.

The VA medical center in Washington, D.C., that was damaged during the riots has the most active coronavirus cases to date, with 66 patients.

A total of 1,254 VA patients have died from COVID-19 in the past few months. That number continues to increase and has gotten up to 11% since last week.

VA employees are not safe from the fast spreading virus either, with nearly 1,500 employees contracting it. 32 of those employees have died from the illness.

A total of 100,00 Americans have lost their lives due to the virus, and that number continues to increase. Over 377,000 people have died worldwide because of COVID-19 since last fall.
